چکیده

This paper describes some of the results of an analysis of new software technology, which can be used to develop microsimulation models. Searching for microsimulation software development environment, the author concludes that opportunities of contemporary software technology are not exhausted; Web-based application development could provide better software architecture while fulfilling user requirements. The structure of the paper is as follows. The brief introduction defines microsimulation and categorizes the models used. The next sections focus in detail on two major approaches, database-oriented and web-oriented. The subsequent parts of the paper present two solutions for Web services, J2EE and .NET and discuss their respective merits and disadvantages. A sample model, using database-oriented approach with Web-service and final remarks concludes the paper. The major contribution of the paper is the presentation of new technology and its use for microsimulation. The software solutions discussed can be used for other simulation applications and the software architecture could build the basis of more general simulation software development environments.

Demographic And Educational Projections. Building An Event-Oriented Microsimulation Model With CoMICS II

German demographic or educational projections are conventionally based on macrosimulation or period microsimulation models. In this paper we introduce a discrete-event microsimulation model, which we have designed to project the graduate rates of the German population. In this model we use survival functions to calculate different fertility rates by mothers’ education. This paper describes how ...

A Review of Spatial Microsimulation Methods

This paper outlines a framework for spatial microsimulation models, gives some reasons why someone may want to use a spatial microsimulation model, describes the development of spatial microsimulation over the last 30 years, summarises the different methods currently used for spatial microsimulation, and outlines how the models can be validated. In reviewing the reasons and methods for spatial ...

A Methodological Survey of Dynamic Microsimulation Models

More than 10 years ago O’Donoghue (2001) surveyed the dynamic microsimulation models that had been developed up to that point. However the 2000’s have seen many of the barriers that existed for model development up until that point overcome. This paper surveys the development and practices in dynamic microsimulation over the past decade, and discusses the methodological challenges today. The pa...

Bayesian Calibration of Microsimulation Models.

Microsimulation models that describe disease processes synthesize information from multiple sources and can be used to estimate the effects of screening and treatment on cancer incidence and mortality at a population level. These models are characterized by simulation of individual event histories for an idealized population of interest. Microsimulation models are complex and invariably include...

A survey of dynamic microsimulation models: uses, model structure and methodology

More than 10 years ago O’Donoghue (2001a) surveyed the dynamic microsimulation models that had been developed up to that point. However many of the barriers mentioned have been gradually overcome in the last decade. This paper surveys the development and practices in dynamic microsimulation over the past decade, and discusses the methodological challenges today. It provides an overview of the m...
